I didn't know you could grow them here, how is it done and do they grow from seed?

Yes they do I have grown them in the past and very easily in fact so easy that its hard to stop them growing, in the end I had so many I didn't know what to do with them. It seems that the climate and the soil in bg are perfect for them.

I tried to grow swedes for the first time last year - not one germinated. May have to give them another go!!! However I ended up with 10kgs of parsnips and that was after they were peeled, blanchedand ready for freezing.

Well done indeed! I guess they would need plenty of water to get them going and to ensure they grow to a decent size. I know they grow well in England which I would guess is down to the wet climate.
