working from BG and making it a home Empty
PostSubject: working from BG and making it a home   working from BG and making it a home Icon_minitimeMon Feb 22, 2016 9:37 am

I am nearly sorted for my move, but kids pointed out that I need an income, for the first time they pointed out that I was too young to retire, yet old enough to go on the list for sheltered accommodation not bad for 51.
any way my plans seam simple so I am asking the ones who have made it their life or home and hopefully succeeded in not having to move back to the UK for work purposes.

plan is to use Skype and VOIP phones and run the office side of the business from my home, would I need to get planning permission for my office, also on my next trip I want to put a small extension on the house just over 2m by 4m more of a conservatory not big but not sure on planning laws was told that I did not need any then read that some places in Varna were going to be pulled down because they did not have planning and the last thing I want is to see the hard work I have done gone because of something I did on hear say. any way looking forward on the help.

If your only using your home (part) as an office you won't need any planning however for the extension I would speak to the mayor they are the ones who really make all the decisions. Good luck

Quite right if your only using part of it as an office then you will have no problems, is the registered company in the UK and will it stay in the UK? As for planning I don't see you having any problems with that either as it will only be a conservatory but its always good to clear it with the mayor. working from BG and making it a home 3367882216

thank you both, the mayor lives next door and he was the one who said the house was for sale, as he pointed out that the villagers around the area are dyeing and they really need people from other countries to buy and settle in the area, which is something I am keen to do, my only slight problem is that I will be unable to get a health permit from the NHS as I do not live in the UK I live on the Isle Of Man which is a crown dependency and has its own set of rules, so I will need to go private so I might be forced to sell up and stay here which is not something I want to do as I like BG very much the area and the people, and I will be trying my utmost to make it work.
are either of you working for yourselves or are both of you putting your feet up and saying is this the life?

I will work for you in BG Paddy g

Re the health insurance even if you had the E111 card it would do you no good as it is only for people who visit the country for holidays,(see below from the gov.uk website)  I don't know how people use it if they live outside of the UK, but you find the majority of people who have health problems fly back to the UK for treatment, again I don't know how they do this if they are living abroad anyway that's beside the point. Many do pay NI in BG .  But it is not a major problem once you are signed on with a doctor you do as the Bulgarians do, visit when you need to and pay the 5 lev or what ever it costs.  We visited the heart specialist for Dougie and paid a wopping 15lev.   If you have to go to hospital than you pay the nightly bed fee of about 5lev, so don't stress over it.  And if all fails you can get private health insurance for a quarter of the price we pay here.

An EHIC gives you the right to access state-provided healthcare on temporary stays in other European Economic Area (EEA) countries and Switzerland at a reduced cost, or sometimes for free. It will cover immediate and clinically necessary state-funded treatment until your planned return home to the UK.
if you are moving abroad on a permanent basis, you will no longer be entitled to medical treatment under normal NHS rules. This is because the NHS is a residence-based healthcare system. You’ll also have to notify your GP so that you and your family can be removed from the NHS register.

Most people will no longer be entitled to use your UK-issued European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) to access healthcare abroad.

thanks Bernie,
will probably pay the NI in BG who know might even get a pension.

finally sorted plans for the house well in my head that is and when it's finished I should have what I want, I will only be using my skills to finish the inside as after all I am the one who is going to live there.
my plan was always to have my bedrooms downstairs, then it accrued to me that people in BG eat outside and entertain outside must be the weather, now the thought of people going through my bedroom to access the toilet is not something I wanted so I reluctantly changed the idea back to bedrooms upstairs, so on a good note it gives me more space to entertain which can only be good and this way Bernie you can visit me, you know the directions down a hill over another hill though a load of villages with speed limits and a few more main roads at least 1 stop for a cupper and your here.

Why not just build another WC with access from the outside, Paddy? Dead simple to connect the plumbing and then you won't have anyone tromping through the house...very handy when you're out working in the garden, or whatever. No muddy footprints or dirt carried in by yourself...make it a sort of cloakroom affair and your work clothes can stay out there as well.

thanks bazz, that's also on my list, when I get over there again I am sure I will have time to change my mind again, but this time I intend to have all the walls up and once that's done no changes.

once Richard from sewage solutions has fitted my septic tank I will move further on.
all ideas are welcome, and I am taken notes. so thanks again bazz.

When are you planning on coming over Paddy...to stay, I mean?

I'm just in the process of aquiring a big old house and a nice big block of land right across the street from me in our village and am looking for some creative ideas. Managed to pick it up for 5,000 leva, which I think is about right for the area...having it so close is a real bonus too! About 6 metres from my front door!! g

hi Bazz,
not sure when I will arrive but the way things are going I think more realistic, will be part time, unless I can find a buyer that is.
I am planning to be over again early July and will be taken one of my 4metre vans with me
when you have completed please send me photos and a plan and I can assure you I will have something for you as this is something I have always liked to do, if you know of any workshops close to Sofia which is still miles from my house, I would look at it as I would like to start a fitted furniture business over their selling into the EU.

if you need something brought over let me know, off course it depends on finishing what I have to do at my house this March as if that is not complete then there would be no point in bringing a van over with my kitchen etc. so will let you know if I finish.
