| Hi Guys [size=150:3mc4mijf]Re: Our new Orphanage Malek Preslavetz Project ‘Knitting for Winter’I have a plan that would love to get operational for the winter months. As you all know the Dimcho is our main orphanage along with the Baby orphanage/medical centre in Silistra. We also have several other organisations we help/helped in Silistra and round Bulgaria, 9 in total. This year our friends Mike & Jerry informed us of a new orphanage just outside Silistra called The Malek Preslavetz. Funds raised at their Danube trip were donated to Malek to provide clothing for the children. We also brought them 15 huge boxes of goods including Christmas shoeboxes for the children on our Sept trip.. Dougie and myself Berni visited them and distributed the goods along with 16 shoeboxes we personally filled ready for Santa to deliver :0) This is a small group of 16 children aged between 3 and 10 years old although at the moment, the children are mostly aged between 5 and 8 and mostly boys. Dougie and I have already agreed that we will take on this orphanage Malek as one of our project and help where we can. As you know our cause is NOT to provide money but to provide essentials such as clothing, shoes, toiletries, linen, toys filled shoeboxes treats such as sweets, biscuits cake etc. If money is donated at any time, than we will buy the item they need ourselves. The director has given us a listing of items they need which is on our website under Malek Preslavetz page please feel free to browse and comment [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] You can also view the slide show for each of the 3 main orphangaes and the home for the elderly there. So the plan is to ask your lovely ladies in Bulgaria to help us with knitting. Necessity things like scarves, hats, gloves for now then we can donate them to the Malek orphanage and the others if we have more than required. I already have two ladies Christine Griffin from Kochmar village and Sue Parker from Dobrich who will be happy to co ordinate this project from their areas. Lubka in Silistra with two volunteers and now Tam in Sliven with two more volunteers Sue Edwards in Ruse area. So what we need from you guys as follows: 1) Volunteer knitters, 2) Donation of wool 3) Volunteers who will place a box in an areas where people can leave wool donations, ie a Community hall, a shop or a bar. or just drop the wool off to one of the organizers So now I just need the volunteers and the wool donations. If you can help, please contact myself, Sue or Christine if you are in their area. Thank you so much we really appreciate your support. Berni & Dougie.xx |

| [size=150:1vu4rmdu]Home for the Elderly Ongoing project As you know I set up this project for the ladies in the Home for the Elderly for two reasons. 1) To help us by knit garments for the children in the orphanages and the poor and needy in Silistra. 2) To give the ladies something to do and keep them occupied and active throughout the winter months. This project has been a great success for the second year running. Admittedly we only managed to bring about 4 large boxes of wool this year but we also brought two sew machines and a few boxes of fabric, threads, cottons, needles etc. These items will give them another avenue to explore, like perhaps making small quilts or curtains or cushion covers. The ladies were overjoyed and love the idea of knitting and sewing etc the fact that the items are donate to the poor and needy in Silistra makes it a very worth while cause and it helps them to feel part of the community again. We will do our best to continue to supply the wool and fabric again in 2012 but it is getting very hard to get the wool donations. I will write to the wools shops/factories again this year and will also try them in Bulgaria too - so wish me luck. Berni |

| Hi Guys Well not much luck on the two main project 'The Activity Holiday for the Dimcho and 'The New Build material donations' yet but I will keep plodding on, if you know of anyone that can help do let me know thanks a million. I have had a good response with the knitting project The lovely British ladies in Dobrich area have knitted 10 sets of hats scarves and gloves Fab!!! :Hearts:and the Bulgarian ladies in Silistra have knitted 15 sets of hats scarves and slippers so a fantastic start for our new orphanage Malek Preslavetz. The word is out in the town/villages in Silistra too so watch this space1 I have starting the shoeboxes Dougie and I have done the 20 for Malek P so far, so one orphanages to cross off . We will do the Dimcho and the Baby orphanages later on, and this year we will be helping a friends in Plovdiv by doing 35 shoeboxes. I also offered to help Charlie Brightstart Orphanage with goods, so seems I have committed us again [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| 1) A tall order I know, but we will try to send the children of the Dimcho on an activity holiday within Bulgaria - So if you can help or have any ideas or recommendations please get in touch. [size=150:3ijfvt6v] We did it!!! 2) The Baby Orphanage/Medical Home need a new building. They have permission to build but need materials and labour. This is a massive project and I am not sure we can help but you never know God is good. So once again if you can help or have any ideas do please let me know : :[size=150:3ijfvt6v] Still working on this one**************** [size=200:3ijfvt6v]Well people I have fantastic news!!!!!!!!!**************** [size=150:3ijfvt6v] We have managed to get 35 children and 4 adult into the Hotel Delta in Sunny Beach on an All inclusive possibly 2 weeks holiday end of Aug beg of Sept :Clap:Is this wonderful news or what :shocked1:We are truly delighted as are the children, they can't wait how wonderful for them. Final details will be forthcoming around June but the hotel has confirmed they will accept and the board basis and that is good enough for me. We are so very lucky, mind you I think I wrote to nearly every hotel in both S/B and Varna.
Now I can start again with the theme parks and a day out for the children. We have also had an offer from Darren and his family at Quest magazine to go along for an afternoon and organize a fun day and take some photos. Also our own photographer Bryan (Willow) will be going over and will make time to visit the children for a day or two and will be snap happy. Thanks a million Bryan you are our guardian angel. |

| This is good news in this day and age of people having no money. I have to say that the generosity show here is fantastic and I wish you all the very best for the holiday. |
