Here in Didim, Turkey, things carry on as always, the children have gone back to school and a new type of tourist has appeared on our streets.  Yes, you have guessed it, the old timers have arrived . . . no bar or restaurant is complete now without a bathchair parked outside.  The strangest of contraptions have been rolling into town, some from the old days and some newer models, the old ones have lots of handles and thick rubber tyres to take the strain of whoever descends into the jaws of the now well knackered machine.  On the other hand of course we have the new models with retro rockets and flares attached to elevate or propel the poor recipient in any direction they choose with great speed, but due to the age of the pilot maybe this new type of bathchair is not going in the direction intended, many have ended up flattened against a wall and locals have spent hours scraping the remnants of the pilot onto a stretcher, only to see some bits blowing away in the wind. This was OK until a certain human remnant from the lower regions of the victim blew onto the lap of a Turkish mumma sat innocently having her cup of çay, the mumma was last seen running down the road at great speed.  

Other unfortunates using the newer bathchair were propelled into the flagpoles with the national flag of Turkey attached and the face of Ataturk the Turkish hero who changed Turkey forever in the 1920's looking at them from the flag, such action by anyone degrading the flag whether Turkish or English is not tolerated here and public trials and hearings have been going on for days.  Those found guilty have been flogged with a leather whippy thing in a public place and the spectacle is very popular, Turks selling drinks before and after these floggings have done rather well and trade is brisk, after all it hasn't been a good year for tourists and traders are now thriving with the extra sales.

Its much the same in Bulgaria in some ways once the main season is over you get a different kind of person visiting but I have to confess not seen too many in chairs yet though.
