| As I am travelling by road to Bulgaria and passing through Hungary we will need to stop for the night in Hungary before driving through Romania to Bulgaria.Does anyone have any suggestions where to stay for the night but not to far off the beaten track and secondly do they accept Euros in Hungary? Any sound advice would be appreciated. |

| Euros are accepted, no problem.
Expect to pay 30-45 euros for a reasonable hotel for the night.
We stayed near Lake Ballaton, really beautiful part of Hungary and hundreds of hotels, big and small, to choose from.
It's a reasonable drive, on good roads from the border at Austria. |

| No worries, hope you have a good trip! Remember that once you leave Hungary, you will need Romanian 'Leu' or Bulgarian 'Leva'. The prices are often quoted in Euros, but they don't accept them. Don't exchange your money at the border crossings ... it's a complete rip-off! If you get chance, work out how much diesel, hotels, food, etc., you'll need to get through Romania and Bulgaria and buy the currency beforehand! |

| You might need to order Romanian money from your bank - not all places stock it. We had to buy some at the border, but only enough to buy petrol! No problem with the other currencies. Have a good trip. |

| Leva is not accepted in Romania ... best to order a few " Leu" from the bank before you set off just in case you need to fill up whilst crossing Romania (you may also need it for the crossing at either Vidin or Ruse). |
