My son goes to a small kindergarten of just 12 children, I noticed that a few were not attending regularly anymore - I asked why this was, and was told that they had no clothes to wear.
We have always given the clothes my son has grown out of, to the kindergarten, they are then distributed between the children there. I mentioned what we do to a few family and friends and found an incredible willingness to help. Whenever anyone comes and visits us, in Bulgaria, I suggest they might like to bring a few childrens clothes for us to give. Some bring their childrens, too small, clothes, some will go and buy a few bits from UK charity shops. We concentrate mainly on shoes, socks, underwear, jumpers, winter coats, hats &
gloves, that is not to say other garments are not welcomed!!! Some employers of my family members also pay for the odd box to sent over.
Would it not be a good idea for everyone coming over, to visit friends and family, to pop a couple of kilograms of childrens clothes in their luggage to bring with them?
I know so many people do so many things to help the underprivileged here I do not want to take anything away from the other larger projects. This is just a small way anyone can (with very little effort) help those who need it.
I can't tell you how pleased a little girl was with her "
monsoon"
cardigan.
