New modern marina worth 24M leva to be constructed in Pomorie
The Black Sea town of Pomorie, north of Bourgas, has approved a proposal for the construction of a spacious and modern marina, a project worth about 24 million leva, Dnevnik daily reported on November 19 2009.
Reportedly, the local municipality bought adjacent portions of land from the state;
parcels between the former railway track near the St George Monastery, along the seafront, all the way to the old town. The blueprints for the construction of the marina had been completed and submitted for approval.
The marina would have a capacity of over 600 yachts and small passenger ships, segregated in three main piers, two of them designated for yachts, with the third for larger vessels. The construction would not affect the old docks in Pomorie, according to Dnevnik daily. On the contrary, part of the investment would be allocated for its rehabilitation and restoration.
The facility would be equipped with its own infrastructure, consisting of access roads, 3km of artificial coastline buttressed with substitute underwater reefs.
A fish restaurant and a new fish market were planned near the marina, the report said.
