Piccadilly, Lidl Open New Supermarkets in Bulgaria
The supermarket chains "
Piccadilly"
and "
Lidl"
have opened new stores in the country, the companies announce.
The German "
Lidl"
entered for the first time the Black Sea city of Burgas by opening three stores at once and replacing the facilities of the "
Plus"
chain, which were purchased by Lidl.
Piccadilly opened its 5th supermarket in Sofia, replacing the "
Elemag"
store on "
Kozyak"
street. The company also has 10 smaller stores in the capital known as "
Piccadilly Express."
"
Lidl"
now has 30 stores in Bulgaria. "
Piccadilly"
has 26 supermarkets, 12 "
Piccadilly Express"
stores and one hypermarket - "
Tempo,"
which is located in the capital Sofia.
In the beginning of March, the Belgian company Delhaize acquired 100% of the shares of Serbian Delta Maxi Group, owner of the Piccadilly retail store chain operating in Bulgaria.
Delta Maxi (Delta Holding) runs some 450 stores in 5 countries in South-Eastern Europe. With the move, Delhaize added to its already-existing Greek and Romanian branches.
