Hiya Folks I have been digging out some of the stuff I had a while ago to help me identify some of the fish product in Bulgaria and though it may help some others, please note that the ingredients in these fish may vary between suppliers, and if you can add to this ideally with pics it would be very useful to others who like their Fish

САЛАТА КОПЪРКА (Usually sold in jars)
SPRATS SALAD
Ingredients: sprats, salt, vinegar acid, refined sunflower oil, vegetables

КОПЪРКА В РИБЕН (Usually sold in jars)
SPRATS IN FISH SAUCE
Ingredients: sprats, salt, vinegar acid, fish sauce

СОЛЕНО-МАРИНОВАНА КОПЪРКА (Usually sold in jars)
SALTED-MARINATED SPRATS
Ingredients: sprats, refined sunflower oil, salt and vinegar acid

КОПЪРКА ПИКАНТНА
SPRATS CHILI (Usually sold in jars)
Ingredients: sprats, salt, vinegar acid, refined sunflower oil, cayenne, chili pepper

ПУШЕНА КОПЪРКА
SMOKED SPRATS (Usually sold in jars)
Ingredients: sprats, salt, vinegar acid, refined sunflower oil, fumes essence

Панирана копърка
BREADED SPRATS

Sprat breadcrumbs (wheat flour, salt, yeast), batter (water, wheat flour, salt, corn starch) May Contains gluten.
Cooking instructions: From frozen. deep fry in hot oil at 180 deg.c for 2-3 min or until golden brown.

Hiya Sarah this is just a short list of some of the prepared fish that is available in Bulgaria there is a hell of a lot more especially fresh fish which I will list here when I can find my lists which I have somewhere I just need to remember where they are but you are also right in the uk we don't eat as much fish as we should really

I must admit to not been a big lover of fish to be honest, although I do love most shellfish (crab, lobster, gambas, etc.).

However, Jain loves the stuff!

Fortunately, we have a local restaurant that serves terrific food so if she's fancying a fish moment, we eat there.

3 large barbecued river trout is less than 10 leva which I thought was most reasonable.

(not that I tasted them, I was eating a huge plate of Hunters Style Liver!) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

3 Trout for 10 leva that's amazing I would be happy to pay a lot more than that in a good restaurant you don't know what your missing Chris I'll have to have a word with Jain and get you converted

This Fish is best Grilled or BBQ'd its a very healthy fish very rich in Omega 3 and is widely available in Bulgaria, I also happen to know that this is a favorite of the Japanese
