| Hi Guys We had something in the loft when we were in BG last. It was too heavy for a mouse as when it sat down it plonked down. It scurried around the loft and when it gets board it chews the wood sound like he will get through any day soon. I am sure when we go back I will find it in the villa sitting on the settee watching the tv and probably moved his family and friends in as well We don't know how it gets in, as Dougie has blocked all the pipes with heavy duty wire and there are no big trees too hear the villa. We put 4 traps with cheese and bread on and the little begger took all the food without setting off the traps - hence we now think it's a pine martin or pole cat. We also put poison down so if he took the poison and did not get out of the roof, then the villa will stink. Any ideas how we can get rid of it for good please. Thanks Oddy |

| it will probably be a belka (squirrel) and you need to get rid as they can chew wiring. a cage trap is one method but you need to check daily. we were told to put moth balls in the attic apparently they dont like these. but cannot confirm that these work. |

| You need to have a bigger version of the Bulgarian mouse trap. They are crude but effective. My mate had problems with a large cat thing killing his chickens. So he made one of these things and hey presto it was caught in about 2 nights. Ugly thing it was shot it before opening the trap.
It will work. |

| It could be a Rat. Ive seen them on the roofs and in the trees, If you have a tree near the house cut the branches well back. It could use the tree to get on the roof. They dont like noise so if all else fails you will have to play the Rat trap at full volume. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| It's either a rat, squirel or marten.....Probably a rat, noisy buggers they can be, check for droppings, set some traps and wait. You'll also need to find out how and where it's getting in and block it up to prevent more making their home in your loft. |

| i had rats last 2yrs in winter, put poisen up in attic first time, but dident think about cat or dog could find & eat em (if the rats managed to come down before they died) so used traps since had lots, but now they seem to have got the message & i dont here em now, or maybe its because ive got insulation? no ive checked every so often there arent any more. my cat can get on the roof so rats can get anywhere there very agile. |
