The two medics from the central Bulgarian town of Gorna Oryahovitsa have been arrested by anti-Mafia officers


Medical doctors have been arrested for freezing a newborn. Dr. Stefan Lazarov and Dr. Mihail Milatovich from the town of Gorna Oryahovitsa in central Bulgaria were arrested by anti-Mafia officers last night on allegations being responsible for the death of a newborn. A seventeen year-old pregnant girl was admitted to the hospital on November 28, 2010 with premature labor symptoms. After the delivery Dr. Lazarov told the young mother the baby was stillborn. However, the newborn proved to be alive and the panic-stricken doctor called his colleague on his mobile phone and asked him how he could get rid of the infant. The phone conversation between the two was tapped by anti-Mafia officers who were carrying an investigation against the hospital's director and the mayor of Gorna Oryahovitsa. The girl was 29 weeks pregnant from her Roma boyfriend but had been keeping it secret from her family and classmates.

Oh my word that is just awful how can people be so callous I am totally shocked at such behavior and in particular from so called professionals - I am a true believer in what goes around comes around.

How very sad and yet how common is this sort of thing in Bulgaria I don't mean the freezer but the lack of respect for their own children

Like anywhere else Bulgarian people do respect their children. I think because this child had Roma in his/her blood then the Doctors may have thought, so what. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] The fact that they have got caught means that they should get the full penalty. If a so called British football hooligan can get several years for a trumped up charge these Doctors should get a darn sight longer for this crime :twisted:

Four doctors accused of killing a baby are released

Four doctors from the Saint Ivan Rilski hospital, in Gorna Oryahovitsa, who were arrested on suspicion of killing a baby born prematurely were released from custody after 24 hours of arrest and questioning, the Bulgarian news agency (BTA) reported on December 2, citing Roumiana Irmanova, spokesperson of the Veliko Turnovo prosecution office.

The four doctors were arrested for the deliberate killing of a baby which was born prematurely on November 30. The accusations came from the baby's 17-year-old mother who delivered in the seventh month, the report said.

According to Irmanova, at this stage of the investigation, the prosecution does not hold enough evidence to arrest the suspects or impose a permanent detention.

The investigation will be shifted to Sofia, where a team of forensic medical experts in the Alexander Hospital will determine the reasons and circumstances of the baby's death, upon which the prosecution will act accordingly.

The news of the death came on December 1, when it was reported that a student in her seventh month of pregnancy had been admitted to a Gorna Oryahovitsa hospital after experiencing complications. Upon the initial exam, however, the doctor told her that her baby was dead. The baby turned out to be alive.

According to the police, the doctor then "
panicked at the revelation and rang a fellow doctor and a friend to discuss ways in which to get rid of it"

Police were already eavesdropping on his telephone conversations because he was under a separate investigation – details of which have not been revealed.

A blood-curdling transcript of a phone talk between three obstetricians from the town of Gorna Oryahovitsa stirred high emotions across Bulgaria. The record casts dark shadow over Mirolyb Kozhuharov, Dimiter Sotirov and Mikhail Mulatovich. Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov read out their names in parliament. It transpires from their talk that a premature baby boy of Boriana, 17-year-old schoolgirl has been scrambling for life in a trash container for 20 hours.
“I feel so ashamed,” Health Minister Stefan Konstantinov. The incident flared emotions in the medical guild, too. The ethical commission of the Bulgarian Medical Association will be far sterner that the court, doctors comment. Prosecution has lodged a claim for murder by negligence.

Thank god they have got this sorted and now lets see if justice prevails and these murderers get what they deserve

terrible!!!!! Now the newspapers had published their conversations. You can hear their cruelty. Even the minister read some of it yesterday in the parliament. They wont get so easily out ;
