First topic message reminder : Hi Guys Just thought I would let you know we are rolling out our 'New Project for Christmas' I am hoping to get as many people involved as possible so if you know of a business or establishment please could you suggest our project. Thanks a million. Our New Project to start in Nov 2010 in Bulgaria. :Xmas2: 'Berni & Dougie's Christmas Boxes' :Xmas2: " Коледно кутии, Берни и Дъги" This is a splendidly simple idea that everyone can help with and we can start immediately. We are asking businesses, schools, colleges, hospitals and homes, in fact everyone all over Bulgaria, if they can have a box in their establishments and houses for all their staff members, clients, students, families and friends to donate one or two new items towards. The donors can nominate an establishment in their area that they want to collect the items for, their local orphanage, a home for the elderly, a disability centre or some other worthy cause. Things like toiletries, gloves, hats, scarves, socks, slippers, toys, books, CD’s, DVD’s, hair accessories, make up, games etc. Maybe you could collect non-perishable food items to fill the boxes? Think how well a nice tasty treat will go down at this time of year. Once the boxes are full they can be delivered to the selected establishments in time for Christmas. It would be rewarding for everyone involved and just think of how happy you could make those who usually go without. It can be difficult to get people to make a positive move and commit to a cause, something else always gets in the way and good intentions sometimes come to nothing, but with this simple and super idea everyone can gain, the people who donate can be very proud they have helped those who are less fortunate then themselves and obviously all the establishments receiving gift boxes will benefit too. Hopefully you can help them have a wonderful happy Christmas for a change. Whoever participates in this project will be mentioned via our media supporters, Trust Radio, Anglo-Info and Quest magazine therefore, we will need to have your name and company or establishment’s information, more details will follow when we start advertising in Bulgaria soon. Thanks you for help us to help those who needs a little extra care this Christmas. Contact: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].uk Berni & Dougie Silistra Orphanage Oddy

Ok Guys just need to point out here that what Dougie and I do is to take goods to the orphanages, clothing, toys, shoes, games necessities like toiletries etc, christmas shoeboxes and various other items. The idea is to make the orphanages as comfortable as possible for the children and of course help where we can. It is not about money and fund raising is only done to raise the £1200 to £1500 depending on the load, that is needed to transport the amount of good we have to send.
This year was an exception as we had help from the advertising banners on here on the forum, Bryan donated personally and also organised a Bulgarian night event and we donated the fee from Take a Break magazine plus we did bag packing every month, bootsales, had a booksale/knitted items sale at my work, we had some donations from friend and a few members and those supporters who continue to donated annually like Nominal Ltd. Whatever was raised over the £1100 transport costs was donated to the Silistra Orphanage with the exception of buying a few outdoor toys.
We hope to raise transport cost of around £1200 for 2011 plus a little to buy things like colouring books, colouring pens crayons etc for the shoeboxes. We have made a good start already for 2011. So thank you to all you wonderful people who continue to help and support us we really appreciate it very much indeed.

Hi Guys Just to bring you up to date re the Christmas Box appeal, We had 3 boxes delivered to the Silistra Orphanage one from the Home for the Elderly all the knitted garments they knitted from the donated wool we took over in Sept and two more from local business so well done everyone George at British Lion Foods had a boxes in his shop ready and waiting but unfortunately he did not have any donations so thank you George for the time and effort you put into this project you did really well and now the idea is planted hopefully next year will be much better:S: Not heard from Kevin at BSBB Varna nor Anita at The Dolphin again I assume they did not have much luck either. It is very hard to get people to help and we just want to say thanks a million for trying we really do appreciated it hopefully we will have better luck with the Easter Boxes. Congratulations to Shirley and the girls at the Condor Club in Sliven They did fantastic!! they filled some boxes and also a lady from the Morman Group dropped off 15 bags of wrapped presents for the Orphanage - We don't know the donor yet, but Shirley will find out. Thank you so much that is just fantastic Well done Shirley, Suzi, Viv and Jean you did wonderful!! We have problems contacting the orphanage so the boxes and goods will not be delivered until Jan now. We also had our 28 huge boxes of goods delivered to the Novo Selo so that was a great achievement and 100's of children will benefit and have a wonderful Christmas Lastly we Elly Maz and myself covered 120 Christmas Shoeboxes and Dougie and I filled them for the Silistra Dimcho and they were distributed last night. The children were delighted see the pictures below. Oddy [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Fantastic to see these poor children with a smile on their little faces and what joy this must bring to you all knowing that you have helped to make the lives of them so much better and for the children to realise that they are cared for by people so far away in another country
