US Domino's Pizza Arrives in Bulgaria



The US-based pizza maker and distributor, Domino's Pizza is entering the Bulgarian market in October,

district in the capital Sofia, however the chain is planning to quickly expand to most major cities in the country, Nikolov said, but declined to offer more details.

Domino's Pizza specializes in home and office deliveries and belongs to the Bain Capital Investment Fund. In addition to traditional pizza, it offers sweet pizzas, pasta and sandwiches.

Nikolov vows fast delivery, outstanding service, and high quality of food.

In Bulgaria, Domino's Pizza will be a franchise as it is in the US and all around the globe. The restaurants will be owned by Nikolov, who acquired the business rights for Bulgaria from the Greek Anatron Food Services after 6 months of negotiations.

The chain was established in the US in the 1960s and now has 9 000 restaurants in 60 countries. It entered the market in neighboring Romania 2 months ago.

In the second quarter of 2010, the company registered a growth in revenues of 14% compared to the negative 2009 results.

According to data of Euromonitor International, the fast food market in Europe is growing, despite the crisis – 8% up in 2009, compared with 2008.

Domino's Pizza to open three restaurants in Bulgaria in 2011

US pizza delivery corporation Domino's Pizza plans to have three restaurants in Bulgaria at the end of 2011, Nikola Nikolov and Lazgin Majid, the firm's representatives for the local market, said.

The company's flagship restaurant in Bulgaria, in Sofia's Krasno Selo neighbourhood, opened on January 7 2011.

This year we plan to open two more units, with one of them already undergoing renovations. It is at the entrance of the South Park area,"
Nikolov said.

Domino's Pizza also intends to open outlets in other major cities in the country, Nikolov and Majid said.

The chain's first restaurant in the country was expected to open in October 2010, but was postponed because of problems with equipment deliveries.

Domino's Pizza, owned by Boston-based private equity firm Bain Capital, operates in Bulgaria through franchise agreements as it does in parts of the US and in all overseas markets.

Domino's Pizza Plans Three Restaurants in Bulgaria by 2012

The master franchisee for Bulgaria is Anatron Food Services, who also serves as the master franchisee for Domino's Pizza in Greece and Cyprus.

However, the stores in Bulgaria will be operated by LN Solutions, owned by Lazgin Majid and Nikola Nikolov. The two partners have experience with other fast food franchises, as well as a non-food franchise, and also are involved in other businesses in the country. Their broad business experience in Bulgaria makes them well-positioned to develop Domino's into a leading brand in the country.
