I met a colleague at work today and she told me she had been to Bulgaria for a weeks holiday, last minute deal. She had been looking forward to it as I had talked about Bulgaria and our experiences and the lovely people, hotels, food, countryside etc etc..

Well it turned out they stayed in Sunny Beach and they hated it, she said the hotel was something out of the communist film. The people were very rude and had no idea about customer service. The food was dreadful, nothng for her being a vegetarian, they told her more or less tough, this is what you get - Infact, she said the best thing about the holiday was when they were coming home.

I know it has nothing to do with me, but I must admit, I did feel real embarrassed :shocked1:I said you should have told me you wanted to go to Bulgaria we know lots of people with property to rent etc, but of course we were in Bulgaria ourselves so we could not help.

Have you every recommended a country and then found the feedback from others was not quite what you experienced ::

We had friends out last year. They also stayed in Sunny Beach (however, they did say the hotel was nice, staff pleasant, beer cheap and great food).

However, unfortunately, when they returned home, it turns out their credit card had been 'cloned' and their bank account emptied

They said they will never return.

Yes I can remember visiting Bulgaria many years ago and when I returned to England I told some of my friends what a wonderful country is was and that the Bulgarian were so pleasant anyway a few years later these friends decided to visit Bulgaria for themselves and have a well deserved holiday everything was fine on the arrival the the first night they went out from the hotel, everything they took with them was stolen and there was no visible signs of entry to their room, need I say more, thisd was a long time ago but it was extremely embarrassing for me when they returned.
