US Air Force band to perform free concerts in six Bulgarian towns
The US embassy in Bulgaria has announced that the highly acclaimed US Air Forces in Europe (USAFE) Band will tour Bulgaria from October 5 to October 10. The tour will include free live performances in six Bulgarian towns – Haskovo (October 5), Stara Zagora (October 6), Shoumen (October 7), Silistra (October 8), Rousse (October 9), and Pleven (October 10).
The USAFE Band is the command band of the United States Air Forces in Europe and is stationed at the Sembach Air Base in Germany. The band represents the US and the air force at the highest levels of diplomatic, ceremonial, and international community relations events. The USAFE Band is one of the oldest musical units in the Air Force and is the only US Air Force band stationed in Europe.
The band’s musical programming reflects the diverse stylistic heritage of American and European music and feature selections that appeal to audiences of all musical tastes including the best of American music from Broadway stage and Hollywood screen to the sounds of New Orleans Dixieland and Big Band jazz, as well as traditional wind ensemble literature, marches and outstanding vocal and instrumental solo features.
In addition to performing live concerts for more than 1.2 million people each year, the USAFE Band may be heard on numerous radio and television broadcasts, bringing the music of the US to millions of people across the continent.
