:Howdy:fellow members I thought I would start a new topic on Ancestry and see if we have anybody on the forum (does not matter which Country you come from) who has done their family tree and found out what or who their forefathers did or were To start the ball rolling. I found out that my forefathers owned Alton Towers during the 12th to 19th century

This is something I've never tried to do but I do feel sometimes it can have negative results as well as the positive so I kind of have mixed feelings maybe sometimes I'm happier not to know

It is actually fascinating !!! It's great knowing where you come from and about your ancestors whether they are famous or not. My husbands femily is from the Rootes group which were responsible for making car's, turbo engines and pump engines.

we saw an advert in the local paper asking for anyone with our surname. my dad replied and some unknown relatives had commissioned a book on our family. my dad was the missing link. we were well off lands owners, people of means. the family split, went north and to ireland. My great grandad was a gambler and lost everything to gambling. everything gone. well, it caused upset with my family who were angry at great granddad having lost the wealth we once had. :LMHO:I have to say the book was fascinating and the house was out of this world, great grandad has a lot to answer for. my dads claim to fame, is that he lived in the house that alice nutter the famous witch once lived in.
