Can any member please give me any indication as to how much property/council tax we should have to pay and how the Authorities arrive at a figure, for village rather than town/city properties

i dont know how they work the property tax out. my first community charge 6 years ago was for 1,300 levs this included 400 levs for emptying the dustbin i never had. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
we challenged it and found we were on paper as having multiple houses hence the hefty tax. we changed the documents held at the municipality and my community charge was 22 levs, it has stayed the same until this year, when it went up 100% to a whopping 44 levs.

As I am researching costs currently it would be very good to get a confirmation on this.

My understanding thus far is that it varies according to municipality/administrative region, but that it is a fractional percentage of the 'rateble value' of your home (I think around 0.15%) payable annually at the end of March. Refuse collection fee is seperate.

This Tax has gone up this year and well over inflation. Ours was in the region of 30 Lev , this year a whooping 98 Lev. But these charges are nothing compared to the UK

We paid 33lev last year and that included a late penalty fee we were 1 month late. Due to pay May now so will update you.

We paid our tax last week and the cost was 60 Leva. We jointly own our property, otherwise it would have only been 30 Leva. A huge difference to the UK, our UK house would be £2000 a year now . . . frightening, glad we live here.

I have a three bedroomed cottage and a very large piece of land and my council tax bill came to 105lv but when compared to my house in the UK is dirt cheap which is £1400 per annum.

i believe it is worked out on the size of plot and facilities in the village. One of our houses with a 3000sqm plot is in a village with a lot of facilities and coz us 75lev and the other with a 5000sqm plot is in a village without which was 53lev. my parents have a 2000sqm plot with was 35lev. so its not going to break the bank whereever you are.

Is that right, if two of you own the property it is double the amount, does that mean that if four people own a property the amount would be X4 surely that is not a property tax

mmmm, there could be a difference here, most of us bought our properties in the company name. i believe itchyfeet was one of the first to buy in name only. maybe thats the difference.

we both own ours 50/50...only one price ...as its our company that actually owns it

We are currently investigating our Council Tax this year. Our neighbours pay approx 30 to 50 levs. We have a house in a very small village and have been asked for 627.42 levs and for the plot next door that we bought to add to our garden 223.09 levs.

We are waiting to hear the municipality's explanation!

we live in a small town there are 3 houses on our land and other out buildings our municipality tax for two vans 1 car 1 trailer and the house totaled to 180lev Now that's what we call a bargain we paid more then that a day in the UK and municipality tax is for the year

Yes, we did buy in our own names and maybe that is where the difference arrises. Our property is 200 sq metres and the land is 4500 sq metres, so I believe 60 Leva is a real bargain, our village has approximately 200 inhabitants, mostly old farmers and owners of what we would call smallholdings, one shop, two bars and one church. Bliss!!
