Bulgaria's Traffic Police to Deprive 150 000 of Driver's Licenses
The Bulgarian Traffic Police have announced that they will take away the driver's licenses of at least 150 000 people in October and November.
The head of the Traffic Police, Aleksi Stratev, has stated that this will happen after they process the data from the 15 cameras located all over the country.
“The punishment for the minimum violation for speed, which is 34 km/h, envisions taking away the driver's license for at least a month,” Stratev said.
He added that many foreigners have also been recorded exceeding the speed limit on Bulgarian roads. Stratev has stated that there is an idea for the punishments to be implemented in the respective countries of the violators.
The head of the Bulgarian Traffic Police also explained that July and August are usually the months with the highest number of victims on the road.
“If in January the number of dead is less than 50, then in the summer months, the number exceeds 100,” Stratev said.
