Desperate Bulgarian Mothers Seek Second Chance for Children
[size=85:p1yb2ofl]Cut-down social aid puts the life of two little girls at stake
Two single mothers are desperately seeking foster families for their seriously ill children. For several months now, twenty-six-year-old Angelina and her friend Rezie have been begging the state institutions to help their gravely ill children, suffering chronic renal insufficiency. At present, the two desperate women live on the meagre 260 levs per month, which could hardly provide food, clothes and medication for their children.
Four-year-old Anabel needs a kidney transplant, but she cannot rely on the national transplant fund, because her mother cannot pay for the expensive medical examinations. Angelina and her child live in a shabby one-bedroom flat in Sofia district of Lyulin, but their hearts have been big enough to share their humble abode with Razie and her seven-year-old girl Kader. In addition to kidney problems, the little girl also has deformed legs and cannot walk.
