English Tourist Dies in Tragic Incident in Bulgaria Resort

A 64-year-old English woman has died in the Bulgarian coastal resort of Sveti Vlas after a concrete mixer topped over and hit a group of tourists walking on the pavement.

The woman died on the spot, while her husband, 56, was heavily injured and rushed to the local hospital. Doctors say his life is out of danger.

Police say the reason for the tragic incident is the high speed at which the truck was driving when it tried to take a turn only to end up on the sidewalk, sweeping away the tourists there.

Test results showed that the driver blood-alcohol level was below the legal limit. The truck is owned by the Burgas-based company Domostroene.

There are suspicions that the project the driver worked for is illegal since construction works in Bulgaria's Black Sea summer destinations were banned in the middle of May, when the new season set in.

This is terrible news but when you consider how some of the people drive in Bulgaria its no surprise I think its about time Bulgaria done something about this and stopped it, I can remember the last time I was over there I was crossing the road at a crossing and the traffic didn't even stop I'm sure they all think they have right of way

how awful, to come on a holiday and lose your life, how sad. and if the cement vehicle was there illegally all the more wrong. when will they adhere to the laws laid down.

Scottish Tourist Killed in Bulgaria Named

The 64-year-old Scottish woman, who was killed after being hit by a cement truck while on holiday in Bulgaria, has been identified as Rosemary Cockburn.

Foreign Office confirmed the death of a British national, and said next of kin had been informed.

The Scottish woman died after being struck by a concrete mixer truck while on holiday in Bulgaria. Rosemary Cockburn was killed instantly after the vehicle mounted the pavement in the popular Black Sea resort of Sveti Vlas.

The 64-year-old's husband, James, 56, was injured in the horror accident, and remains in hospital.

Shocked eyewitnesses claim the vehiclea was travelling at high speed in an attempt to outrun police when it collided into the Cockburns.
