The Daily Star: Bulgarian influx to UK expected in wake of widespread 'hunger'

UK tabloid Daily Star informs its readers that a "
massive"
influx of migrants entering the UK from Bulgaria can be expected in the wake of the economic crisis.

According to the newspaper, which cites its source as Bulgarian newspaper Standart, "
a massive 29 per cent of the population can no longer afford to eat, while one in five earn less than £90 a month (about 200 leva) for full-time work"
.

The Daily Star quotes figures saying that more than 2000 immigrants a month came to the UK from the former Eastern Bloc nation before the recession, then the numbers began to dwindle. According to the newspaper, "
now Bulgarian officials believe similar numbers could start heading to the UK again, despite our (the UK's) population standing at over 61 million"
.

The article goes on to quote a Bulgarian official as saying: "
Britain is the No 1 target for people leaving our country. It’s where they believe they can most easily pick up work."


The paper concludes by saying that "
the influx is set to be one of the trickiest issues for new immigration minister Damian Green"
.

Well I'm sorry to say this but they are taking jobs from the British, but lets face it most of the jobs available no one wants anyway I take off my hat to them

Thank you for your comments Blink you are of course correct - many people will not work for the minimum wage. However, our minimum wage is a huge amount to the immigrants, but when you take the cost of daily living here in the UK of of their wages, they will have nothing left. So its swings and roundabout really.

Most imigrants only work in the UK for 6 months so pay no income tax,and they send their money home where it is worth 3 or 4 times as much,so they cant loose

:Howdy:I know of a Bulgarian chef who worked in the kitchen of our village pub for three years. Excellent at is job and a very socialable guy
He lived on site and had no overheads, except I am pleased to say he paid all his taxes and stamp that were due
Every month on pay-day he would be off to Western Union to send all his salary back to his Wife and two children. During those three years his Wife has purchased two properties on the Black Sea Coast with the money. He went back to Bulgaria two months ago to a better life and being the proud owner of these two properties and still being able to use his skill as an excellent chef
I personally would not have any problem if all the influx of Eastern block people were as honest and enterprising as this guy :Good luck:to you mate and very well done
