Thought people might like to hear some Royal News for a change.

Camilla breaks leg hillwalking

The Duchess of Cornwall is said to be in "
cheerful"
spirits after breaking her leg during a fall while out hillwalking in Scotland. Skip related content

Camilla, 62, fractured her left fibula when she slipped while outdoors on Wednesday but the true extent of the injury was only confirmed by an X-ray on Thursday.

She is apparently bearing up well and, despite being fitted with a plaster cast, is determined to carry out all her official engagements, which are scheduled for the end of the month.

A Clarence House spokeswoman, describing how Camilla was coping, said: "
The Duchess is cheerful and it's a case of 'Life goes on - it could be worse'."

Camilla was on her traditional Easter break at Birkhall, on the Queen's private Balmoral Estate in Aberdeenshire, with the Prince of Wales when the accident happened.

It is thought she fell after accidentally putting her foot in a pothole and the bone was fractured near the ankle.

After the tumble the Duchess needed some help getting down the hill but initially the injury was not thought to be as serious as a break.

Clarence House said she went to an undisclosed hospital for an X-ray following the advice of a doctor "
which showed a twisted fracture of the fibula"
.

A spokeswoman said: "
Consequently, her Royal Highness is wearing a plaster cast and will be for six weeks. She has been advised not to put weight on her leg. Her Royal Highness has every intention of carrying out all planned engagements."

Charles and Camilla celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary tomorrow.
