An 80-meter ship is currently stuck on a sandbank in a Burgas bay in the Black Sea after strong winds and waves broke its anchor Monday morning.

The ‘Irtysh 1’ has been stuck on the sandbank under Foros Cape close to the ‘Kraimorie’ neighborhood, since 06:45 after the breaking anchor was reported at 06:20, Captain Zhivko Petrov, head of the Maritime Administration-Burgas, reported.

"
Right now the measurements and inspections have shown that there is no breach in the hull, nor any leakage. Tugboats and other vehicles are on the scene there, but we have had no success in moving the ship,” Petrov reported.

The large waves and strong winds are reportedly hampering the efforts to re-float the ship. Petrov concluded by adding that the crew is fine and that they are in no danger.
